Attributes System

We are excited to unveil the Attribute System, a core feature that gives you total control over how your character develops in ArcTale!

Whether you want to be an unkillable front-line tank, a devastating critical hitter, or a spell-slinging mage, the Attribute System provides multiple ways to increase your stats and define your playstyle.


📈 Stats and Playstyles

The Attribute System allows players to increase their stats in a bunch of different ways. You can distribute your points to enhance specific capabilities. For example:

  • Vitality: Increases your maximum health.
  • CritChance: Increases your chance to land a critical hit in combat.
  • Wisdom: Increases your mana regeneration.

This system will be absolutely crucial as we continue to shape our holy trinity class system. For instance, we highly recommend Tanks put more points into Vitality, while a Mage might prioritize Wisdom for better mana management!

🛡️ Attributes vs. Classes

It is important to note that the Attribute System is distinct from the upcoming Class System. While attributes provide raw, permanent stat boosts, the Class System will be heavily focused on unique mechanics and custom Talents.

For example, your class and talents might give you a passive effect like: "Whenever you deal fire damage, you heal for +1 health." The combination of custom talents from the Class System and the raw stat boosts from the Attribute System will empower you to play your character exactly the way you want!

Over time, we will be adding more and more attributes to give you even deeper customization options!

⬆️ Leveling Up and Gaining Points

Currently, there is one primary way to gain Attribute Points: Leveling Up.

We have successfully integrated our Level System so that every time you reach a new level, your character is rewarded with Attribute Points. You can then spend these points in the Attributes UI to permanently boost your stats.

To make this process as satisfying as possible, we’ve added cool sound effects, click effects, and screen effects when you allocate your points. Putting points into attributes feels truly rewarding!

🍎 Rethinking Attribute Resets

Mistakes happen, and eventually, you might want to try a different build. Later on, it will be possible to remove or reset Attribute Points.

However, we want to maintain the immersion of our world. We are not going to use commands for stat resets. Instead, we will bring in immersive methods—like custom items or specific foods you can eat that will remove points from certain attributes, allowing you to re-spec your character organically within the game world.

The Attribute System is just the foundation. Because the system is highly adaptable, it will play a massive role in the future of ArcTale. For example, later on, certain powerful weapons or gear might have Attribute requirements before you can equip them!

We are still balancing the exact stat gains per level, tuning the math behind attributes like CritChance and Vitality, and refining the visual effects. Player feedback will be crucial to ensure investing points feels impactful while keeping the game balanced.
